Eugenio María de Hostos

(January 11, 1839 – August 11, 1903) Puerto Rican educator and writer. He studied law in Spain and fought to free Cuba and Puerto Rico from Spain’s colonial rule. His work and ideas have influenced Caribbean identity, culture, and political development for many years.
