Metal Drum Player

Also known as the national Instrument for Trinidad and Tobago, this metal instrument dates to the 1800’s. Metal drums were at one point banned since the ruling class suspected the instrument was being used for secret communication among freed slaves in festivities. However, the instrument was officially reintroduced in the 1930’s and has been evolving ever since.
